Wills

Your Will is the single most important document you can put in place for the people you love. It decides who inherits, who looks after your children, and who carries out your wishes — and without one, the law makes those decisions for you. We write clear, legally valid Wills that say exactly what you want them to say, in plain English, with no jargon and no rush.

We meet families face to face across South Yorkshire, Derbyshire & Nottinghamshire — and online we cover the whole of England and Wales.

What’s included

  • A free, no-obligation initial consultation
  • A Will tailored to your family and your wishes
  • Plain-English explanation of every clause
  • Appointment of executors and guardians
  • Guidance on witnessing and signing correctly
  • A fixed price agreed before we begin

Why having a Will matters

If you die without a valid Will, you die “intestate” — and the rules of intestacy decide who gets what. Those rules can leave an unmarried partner with nothing, split an estate in ways you would never have chosen, and force your family through extra stress and cost at the worst possible time.

A properly drafted Will puts you back in control. You choose your beneficiaries, appoint guardians for young children, name the executors you trust, and can leave specific gifts, charitable donations or messages to the people who matter. It is, quite simply, the clearest way to look after your family after you have gone.

How we make it straightforward

We start with a relaxed conversation — by phone, video or at your kitchen table — to understand your family, your assets and your wishes. There is never any pressure, and the first consultation is always free.

From there we recommend the right kind of Will for your situation, prepare a first draft for you to check, and go through every clause together so you understand exactly what it means. When you are completely happy, we arrange for it to be signed and witnessed correctly, so it is legally valid and there can be no doubt about your intentions.

Mirror Wills for couples

Many couples choose “mirror Wills” — two matching Wills that leave everything to each other and then to your children or chosen beneficiaries. They are a simple, cost-effective way for partners to protect one another, and we can prepare them together in a single appointment.

Questions about wills

Good to know

How much does a Will cost?

We work to fixed, transparent fees that we agree with you before any work begins — so you will never be billed by the hour or receive a surprise invoice. The exact price depends on how straightforward your wishes are, and we confirm it during your free consultation.

Do I need a solicitor to write my Will?

No. A Will does not have to be written by a solicitor to be legally valid — it must simply be prepared correctly and signed and witnessed in line with the Wills Act. We prepare your Will to a high professional standard and make sure it is executed properly, so it stands up when it is needed.

Can you visit me at home?

Yes. Home visits across South Yorkshire, Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire are available at no extra charge. Many clients find it far easier to talk things through in their own home, especially where mobility or care needs make travelling difficult.

How often should I update my Will?

It is sensible to review your Will after any big life change — marriage, divorce, a new child or grandchild, buying a home, or the loss of someone named in it. Marriage actually revokes an existing Will in most cases, so it is well worth reviewing at that point.
